Inner Landscapes
What if landscape is not a place we look at, but something we carry within us?
Inner Landscapes is a series of four interconnected works exploring the emotional spaces beneath the visible surface — protection and vulnerability, withdrawal and connection, and the quiet strength that emerges when we allow ourselves to open.
Each work forms a chapter of the same journey. Together, they trace a movement from enclosure towards connection — without presenting vulnerability as weakness.

THE ARTIST
Petra van Bellen
Petra van Bellen is a German contemporary mixed-media artist whose work centres on women — not as ideals, but as individuals shaped by experience, change and the desire to live on their own terms.
Before dedicating herself fully to art in 2018, she spent more than three decades in visual merchandising. Fashion, composition and the relationship between image and space continue to influence her visual language today.
Working with acrylic, charcoal, ink, paper, gold leaf and other materials, van Bellen builds her portraits in layers. Traces remain visible, surfaces are disrupted and beauty is deliberately allowed to coexist with tension and imperfection.
At the heart of her work is a recurring question: What happens when women begin to define their lives from within rather than through the expectations placed upon them?
Petra van Bellen lives and works in Germany.
